About Manhattanhenge

Twice a year, the sun sets perfectly in line with the NYC street grid creating a unique event nicknamed “Manhattanhenge.” In celebration, FDR Four Freedoms Park will stay open late, offering a perfect location with which to observe this fun and beautiful phenomenon.   

Bring your camera, grab a friend, and capture the NYC skyline as you’ve never seen it before!

Free; registration required. This event is RAIN or SHINE. The capacity for Manhattanhenge at Four Freedoms Park is 1,750. 

There is limited walk-in space available. Walk-ins are not guaranteed; capacity is limited. 

As a reminder: 

  • To protect the memorial, there is no eating or drinking allowed in the Park with the exception of water. You may bring your own food to enjoy in our designated eating areas. 
  • Unfortunately, no pets are allowed in the memorial. The full list of Park rules is available here. 
  • No drones are permitted in the Park. 
  • There is limited seating at the Park. Please feel free to bring your own lawn chair or blanket.
