Please join Big Delicious Planet for our 2018 Summer Urban Farm Dinner Series!
Set in the middle of our hidden West Town urban farm, each of our four-course family-style dinners is an exemplary intermix of creative event planning, innovative cuisine and sustainable urban agriculture. Each dinner in the series is curated by our talented Event Production Team (Christen, Grace, Sarah & Chelsey), with menus created by BDP Chef de Cuisine, Tom Bronny, to highlight the dozens of organic crops we’ll be harvesting on the morning of the event.
Dinners begin at 6:00pm and conclude at 9:00pm. After checking in with our staff, guests mingle and enjoy appetizers and cocktails while walking around our 50 raised garden beds. Around 7:00pm guests will be seated at our 24 person farm table to a beautiful salad course, and we'll give a brief introduction to Big Delicious Planet, Chicago's only 4-Star Certified Green Restaurant. Next, we'll serve a family-style dinner with entrees and several side dishes, and conclude with one of our delicious seasonal desserts.
We hope to see you this summer!

Frequently Asked Questions
You have an urban farm at BDP? Yes! We’ve had an urban farm for seven years. We’re organically growing dozens of vegetables, herbs and edible flowers that will be incorporated into each menu. We also have a farmer on our staff!
Who comes to the BDP Urban Farm Dinners? People looking for a cool dining experience! In the past we’ve had couples out celebrating an anniversary, girls night out, small groups celebrating a birthday, and people looking for something different.
How much are the tickets and what’s included? The tickets are $145 per person and include everything! A three hour urban farm experience, 4-course meal, seasonal cocktail, local beer, sustainably sourced wine, non-alcoholic beverages, tax, and service fee.
What’s on the menu? We plan the menus closer to the date, and it’s usually a wonderful surprise. It will be a fun, fresh, flavorful menu made with many of our own organically grown vegetables and herbs, as well as locally sourced products and meat.
What if I'm vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free or have an allergy? Our dinners are best suited for adventurous eaters, but we do serve plenty of vegetarian and vegan dishes. We recommend that if you have any specific dietary restrictions that you inquire before purchasing your ticket to make sure we can accommodate your needs.
Can I buy a block of tickets? Our farm table seats 24 people, so we recommend that groups larger than 12 consider hosting a private event so other guests don’t feel like they’re at someone else’s party. We host private events in the BDP Urban Farm for up to 60 people.
Can I bring children or a dog? For the enjoyment of all, we prefer to keep our dinners to ages 16 years and older. Except for our feral cats that protect our property, pets are not permitted in our garden.
What if I bought a ticket but I can’t attend? We do not offer refunds, but you are welcome to transfer your ticket to another person’s name. Please contact us with the new guest’s information at least 24 hours prior to the event or tell the guests using your reservation to give your name at arrival.
Is gratuity included? Gratuity is not included, but many guests like to leave a cash tip at the end of the evening for our servers to split.
What should I wear? Think garden party attire! You may want to bring a hat or sunglasses in case you're seated facing the sunset. The temperature may drop after sunset, so you also may want a jacket or a wrap. And because there is gravel and wood chips you should save your stilettos for another event. Also, please be advised that there will be a photographer at each farm dinner. Our dinners have been published in Domino, Driftless, Edible Chicago, Mingle and other publications.
Does BDP have bees? Yes, we have 2 hives in the back corner of the farm. The bees have never been a nuisance, but note that this is a warning that we DO have bees. We suggest you go easy on the AXE body spray before coming.
Is there parking or transit nearby? We have a parking lot in front of our building you may use and there is plenty of street parking after 5pm. There is a bike rack outside our gate. The Grand Avenue bus is nearby as well as Divvy stations.
What happens if it rains? The event will occur rain or shine. In the event of inclement weather we’ll decide an hour before whether to move the dinner inside to our Canteen for an equally awesome time.
BDP donates a portion of the tickets sales? Yes, BDP has been a supporter of urban agriculture since we started our own farm 7 years ago. 10% of our proceeds will go to different small farms and organizations working to support sustainable agriculture in Chicago.
Do you host other events? Yes, we have a few pop-up dinners throughout the year at venues most folks wouldn’t have access to, and we host interesting workshops (sustainable wine tasting, beekeeping, etc.) in our Canteen.
