The Holocaust Exhibition tells the story of the Nazi persecution of the Jews and other groups before and during the Second World War. The origins and implementation of the ‘Final Solution’ are laid bare, with photographs, documents, artefacts, posters and film offering stark evidence of how persecution turned to mass extermination.
Not recommended for children under the age of 14.
PERSONAL STORIES
Photographs like this one of Roma and Sinti gypsies held in a camp in central Poland tell the stories of the many different people who lived through the Holocaust. Testimonies from survivors bring a moving perspective to the many objects on display while a model of Auschwitz-Birkenau by artist Gerry Judah demonstrates the extent of events that occurred.
A TOKEN OF GRATITUDE
This rag doll was given to British soldier Gwyn Jones by former prisoners after the liberation of Bergen-Belsen concentration camp. The doll's clothes were made out of real prisoner's clothing. This is one of many personal stories and objects on display in the Holocaust Exhibition.
