Valley of flowers is a fairyland located in West Himalaya, in the state of Uttarakhand. It is situated at an altitude of 3,600 meters above the sea-level in the upper expansions of Bhyundar Ganga in the far interior of Garhwal Himalayas and Spread over an area of 87.5 Sq. Km. It was first discovered by British traveler Frank Smith in 1931. This magical high altitude Valley is filled with flowers and surrounded by white mountains loaded with snow. This enchanting valley gets frozen during winters, but as the snow start melting with the arrival of summer. This world famous Heritage Site "Valley of Flowers" become accessible for tourist and trekkers. Uttarakhand forest department is the caretaker of this place and is opened only in the summers. Valley of Flowers trek is mainly known for its picturesque landscape, alpine flowers and the variety of flora. The valley is also home to rare and endangered animals, including the Asiatic black bear, snow leopard, musk deer, brown bear, red fox, and blue sheep. Transportation charge of One way is INR 950/- & INR 1600/- ( One way ) Respectively.
How much difficult Valley Of Flowers Trek is?
Govindghat to Ghangaria: Govindghat is at the height of 5500 feet and Ghangaria is at the height of 10,200 feet. That is the gain 4700 feet after trekking for 14 km. The trek is steep in its first 3 km and last 3 km.
Ghangaria to Valley of flowers: Ghangaria to the valley of flowers is not so steep trek as once you reach to the official starting point of the valley of flowers it almost at the same level for the next 3-4 kilometers.
Ghangaria to Hemkund Sahib: This is quite a steep climb to Hemkund Sahib. As Hemkund Sahib is situated at 14,200 ft.
